Letus Talon Kit

I received this kit yesterday. I am having a problem tightening the handle brackets and angled rod brackets for the handles. When I have my Canon 5 d mounted the handles and rods sag. Unfortunately I torked two of the thumb screws so much I stripped them.
I love this system, it feels great on my shoulder but if I cannot get the handle brackets to lock in it is useless. Any suggestions?
